On May 1st I celebrated another year on this earth. I love birthdays because it is the one day of the year that gets to be all about you! After I turned the BIG 3 0 I decided that I would celebrate my birthday by travelling; I figured that would be easier than trying to organize dinner or a party.
This year I planned to visit my friend, but when plans didn’t work out, I decided to go to New Jersey/New York to spend time with my cousin. I hadn’t been to NJ/NY in years so I figured I would use this time to see family I had not seen.
We spent the day in New York City, it was Cinco de Mayo so first thing we had to do was stop and get tacos to celebrate. After we headed to One World Trade Center; I had not seen the new Trade Center since it was built or seen the memorial. Walking up to the fountain and seeing the memorial was surreal, reading the names, seeing where the tower fell, and seeing how they re-built in spite of tragedy was amazing.
Later that night we had dinner at the Chart House on the Hudson River, the view of the NY skyline was perfect.
Best view of the skyline and best way to celebrate my birthday! For my birthday next year I will start planning early 🙂
