JAMAICA JAMAICA 🇯🇲

Ahh, I don’t think there’s a better way to end the year than to spend it with wonderful people in an amazing place….Jamaica.

My friend had been cajoling me about my decision of going and as per usual I was procrastinating 🤦🏾‍♀️. He would not take no for an answer, so the decision had already been made for me. Usually it doesn’t take a lot of convincing me to travel, but this time was different, maybe it had something to do with the travel requirements needed to enter Jamaica. I was also hesitant because I would be the only woman going. I finally verbalized the decision that was already made and said yes! Why? Because I love Jamaica, and it was on my vision board of places I wanted to travel. When I gave him my answer there was no going back….well maybe except for a positive covid test. 🥴

We took our covid test a week before our departure and applied for travel authorization within five days of travel. We were good to go! The whole process was not as painful as I expected and going through customs was a smooth process. There were long lines, but we walked straight over to the kiosk and we were out of customs within twenty minutes. That was great, however, using the kiosk did not get my passport stamped :(. There were many sanitizing stations set up throughout the airport, probably too many as we started to experience delays and long lines to sanitize. Sanitizing stations were basically placed right next to each other, you would sanitize here then walk a few feet and sanitize there.
We stayed in a private villa in Trelawny. Four bedrooms and five bathrooms that sleep about nine people and a pool with a swim up bar and jacuzzi. The villa is also located less than a mile from a semi-private beach and came with our very own personal chef/bartender and housekeeper.

ackee & saltfish, callaloo, breadfruit, boiled dumplings, boiled banana, plantain

This trip was nothing I expected, and everything I needed at the same time. A lot of us went in as strangers and left as friends. We laughed until we cried and got to know each other on a deep, personal level and all because we came together to celebrate one person’s birthday. Jamaica is a place that is special to me and after this trip it is even more special and I am grateful to have been apart of the celebration.
Cheers to more life. 🥂
