A couple weekends ago I had the opportunity to witness love! It was a magical weekend from start to finish in Cancun Meh ehh co 🇲🇽!

The last time I was in Mexico, I was in Cabo for a bachelorette of a dear friend of mine. This time I headed to Cancun for another dear friend’s wedding. This wedding was set to take place last August, but with Covid they had to post-pone. While the wedding was post-poned, the marriage wasn’t! The couple still exchanged vows in NYC on their planned wedding date. So when we got together in Cancun, we were celebrating their wedding ceremony and one year anniversary!

I arrived on Thursday afternoon and transportation was waiting to take me to the resort. We stayed at Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa resort. We arrived a little before check in time, so we met the rest of the crew for lunch! Margaritas and Tequilla shots were on deck, so we needed to catch up. Once we ate our fill it was time to head to our rooms to get ready for the bachelorette boat fete.

We cruised around the Gulf listening to the sweet sounds of Soca music. We danced and partied the entire time, and I have the bruises as evidence 😉.

The weekend was full of laughter, dancing, drinking, and more dancing…it was a jam packed weekend. After the boat ride we were on the go!
Since we knew we would have a busy schedule, we wanted to have a pool/beach day Friday, but that went out the window five minutes after we sat down poolside. Right after we ordered drinks we, we received a message that some of the girls were going to Isla Mujeres, an island about 11 miles outside of Cancun. We thought, if not now, when….so we caught the next ferry out. The ferry was about a 20 min ride, and we had live entertainment onboard.

We didn’t have much time to venture Isla Mujeres, so our first stop was foooood. We were so hungry and wanted authentic tacos! Once we ordered and ate we had like 15 minutes to enjoy the beach before we had to head back for the welcome dinner/meet & greet. Which would be followed by an after party at a lounge located on the resort (if you know the bride, you know dancing was mandatory). We danced at dinner, danced at the lounge, and went to their hotel room and danced some more, cause party cyan done! 💃🏾🕺🏾💃🏾
Saturday, my roomie and I decided to treat ourselves to a relaxing spa morning before the wedding. We had so much fun the night before, we knew we needed to relax before the wedding. We enjoyed a much needed steam, sauna, and massage before it was time to slay (not better than the bride of course 😉). It was supposed to rain Saturday, but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. God made sure He blessed the beautiful couple with a beautiful day.

And of course at the reception we danced some more (I may have forgot to mention it was an African-Caribbean wedding, we love to dance!). Check out my Mexico highlight on instagram for footage.
Monday, our last day, and we wanted an ADVENTURE! So zip lining and swimming in the cenotes it was! I had no idea want a cenote was, just knew they looked beautiful. And in case you’re wondering too, cenotes are natural pits, or sinkholes, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater. Cenotes were also used for water supply by the ancient Maya (thanks Wikipedia 😉).

Soooo I decided to cool off by jumping in the cenote, but I positioned myself wrong and had a failed booty flop. Ugh my butt hurt, and the water was cold. But the second time was a charm, and I had a nearly perfect pencil dive ☺️.
The cenotes was a perfect way to end a perfect trip, now to start planning my next getaway…
